Located at Broadway and Canal Street, this site is rich with history. The monumental building, originally designed for The National City Bank of New York, was completed in 1927 and remained a fixture throughout the depression. The distinctive art deco modern building is located on a highly trafficked corner in Tribeca; with soaring interior space and clean exterior details, it is known as a jazz age masterpiece.
After almost a century of use, the bank was long overdue for an interior and exterior modernization restoration. The M&R landmark preservation crew restored this landmark building while taking careful measures to avoid disturbing the historical integrity of the building. The restoration project included a complete overhaul of the interior space to meet current building and accessibility codes and the operational needs of the client.
